Quicksilver

Quicksilver is the XMPP/Jabber/Google Talk chat app for iPhone and iTouch that everybody's been waiting for. With push notifications and a clean, simple user interface (with landscape keyboard too, of course), it makes chat on iPhone straightforward and fun. Whether to just have a friendly conversation or to do business on your company's XMPP server, Quicksilver has the tools you need: secure TLS encryption for in-house servers, push notifications (in case you don't want to run the app all the time), and even a method to input your gps coordinates if you need to share your location.

Quicksilver works with open, XMPP-compliant servers, including Google Talk. So you can log in to your Gmail account and talk with your friends there. And since Quicksilver has support for multiple accounts, you can also log in to other Jabber servers and chat with your contacts on those servers too.

Unlike other chat apps for iPhone, Quicksilver's push server doesn't log you out after 24 hours. So if you don't want to log in every day, you don't have to. Quicksilver automatically changes your status to away when you quit the application. You can also configure accounts that don't interact with the push server and connect directly to the XMPP server. So there's no security risk, if you need to keep your password secure.
